Biography

Al Mezny is a member of the firm who focuses his practice in the areas of intellectual property litigation and employment law.  Al’s intellectual property practice includes litigation involving trade secrets, copyright, trademark, unfair competition, "typosquatting" and Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution proceedings.

Al also represents management in the full range of employment cases before administrative agencies and in the state and federal courts including wage and hour class action litigation, ERISA and COBRA claims, all types of discrimination claims including sexual harassment, retaliatory discharge claims based on the exercise of workers compensation rights and other “employment tort” cases such as those involving tortious interference, defamation, breach of privacy and breach of contract claims, and elections, unfair labor practice charges and related proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board.

Al works with private and public employers in connection with their information asset management including confidentiality and noncompetiton agreements.  He also counsels employers concerning complex leave of absence and termination issues, preparation and review of employee handbooks and personnel policies, wage and hour issues, and sexual harassment investigations.

Al also represents employers and employee welfare benefit plans in drafting plan language and in litigation over employee benefits.

Al serves as a certified mediator with the 17th Judicial Circuit Court.
